A Farewell to Rachel the Intern

When the summer sun is shining, we get pretty darn busy in our communities. We support charities, non-profits, and community events year round, but as we all know, summer is where the real action is. Earlier this year, we took a look at how many events were on the docket this summer and realized that we needed some help to pull everything off. With that in mind, we put together an internship for somebody that would essentially be our face in the community for the whole summer. We needed somebody energetic, creative, and eager to promote wellness to all of our communities. Luckily, we found Rachel.

If you were out and about at community events in Oregon this summer, you probably Rachel passing out fresh fruit, recipe cards, water, or even cash. She was everywhere! And, she was a huge contributor to our blog (we credit her with about 8 of our soon to be one million ideas).

Since today is her last day, here is her farewell post:

I had a fantastic experience during my internship with PacificSource this summer. Sadly, today is my last day. But before I go, I wanted to highlight the experiences that made this the best summer ever.

The biggest part of my internship was working at community events, and I enjoyed every single one of them. (You might remember these: Balloons Over Bend, River Road Concert in the Park, Light of Liberty) It’s tough to pick a favorite, but I had to say the highlight was our Walk It Off for KIDSPORTS event. It was a perfect example of why my internship was such a cool experience.

I grew up playing on KIDSPORTS teams, and I’m confident that being a part of those teams taught me more than just how to play sports; they taught me about life. So when I had the chance to use my internship to help a charity that I already had such fond memories of, I was thrilled! I had the chance to play a big role in the planning and execution of the event, and it felt so good to see it do so well, and see so many people willing to support KIDSPORTS. This event served as the perfect example of why I loved my internship so much: I live in an awesome community, the company I worked for cares about people, and I got to chance to promote healthy living!

While I wish I could mention every wonderful person and positive experience I had while working here, the list is too long. As I begin the University of Oregon MBA program this fall, I am confident that the skills and lessons I learned at PacificSource will help me succeed. I will sincerely miss all of the incredible people I was able to work with during my internship, and of course, rolling in the Healthy Life Mobile.

Rachel was a rockstar this summer, we couldn’t have gotten luckier. We wish her the absolute best at the U of O, and we’re all hoping she keeps spreading the good word about wellness.
