Take the Healthy Life Civil War Challenge!

Nothing motivates us like a good, old fashioned competition! That’s why we’re welcoming everyone in Oregon to take the PacificSource Healthy Life Civil War Challenge.

If you live in Oregon, you know just how serious the Civil War rivalry between the University of Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State University Beavers is. When they play each other on the field, there’s nothing “civil” about it. However, there is one thing both universities agree on; improving the health of all Oregonians. So for this challenge, we’re taking the competition off the field, and putting into your hands. Here’s how it works:

Step 1: Visit HealthyLifeChallenge.org

Step 2: Click on the “Make the Pledge!” button

Step 3: Pledge to do at least one of the following:

  • Get Moving: Add 30 minutes of physical activity to your day.
  • Eat Healthfully: Eat at least five servings of fruit and veggies per day.
  • Kick the Habit: Go tobacco free.
  • Relax: Reduce your stress, dedicate a few minutes each day to relaxation.

If you take the pledge before November 12, you’ll automatically be entered to win a pair of tickets to the 2012 Civil War Game on Saturday, November 24. We’ll also donate one dollar on your behalf to a charity of your choice. You can choose to support the following non-profits in Eugene, Corvallis, and surrounding areas:

  • Boys and Girls Club of Emerald Valley (Eugene)
  • Mid-Willamette Family YMCA (Albany)
  • Eugene YMCA (Eugene)
  • Linn Benton Food Share (Corvallis)

We’ll be tracking to find out who gets more pledges: Ducks or Beavers. So sign up, get healthy, help your community, and (most importantly), help lead your school to victory!
