Sharing Healthy Ideas at Balloons Over Bend

BananaCombining hot air balloons with a bunch of kids might sound like a strange (and slightly terrifying) combination. But for some reason, it just works. We spent this weekend in Bend OR, for the annual Balloons Over Bend Children’s Festival, and we had a blast!

As sponsors of the Healthy Kids Zone, we decided to use the festival as an opportunity to share all kinds of kid friendly healthy ideas. So we came armed with a gigantic variety of fruit for kids to sample (peaches, plums, cantaloupes, mangoes, apples, bananas, nectarines, and kiwis), PacificSource Plinko, and our old favorite, a “Share Your Ideas” banner. Kids ate fruit, answered trivia questions, stacked apples, and jotted down their favorite healthy ideas.

Also in the Healthy Kids Zone, our pals at Mosaic Medical Center, Bluefish Dental, Healthy Beginnings, Smith Martial Arts, and Campfire of Central Oregon offered healthy games, exhibits, and fun information to deliver a healthy message to children. The combination left kids (and their parents) smiling.

IMG_0614To help raise money for the Festival’s beneficiary, Saving Grace, we went to the balloon Night Glow (which was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen, by the way) and sold miniature glowing balloons of our own. Thanks to our balloon sales, we raised about $450, and every penny went to Saving Grace.

The weekend was awesome, and we can’t thank our partners enough. Check out the photos from the weekend.
