March is National Nutrition Month, Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle


March is National Nutrition Month! Throughout the month, our registered dietitian, Laura Dudley will provide tips, resources, and thoughts on nutrition. Today, Laura explains the importance of National Nutrition Month and provides some of her favorite resources that will help you eat a nutritious diet:

“Each March, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics sponsors National Nutrition Month®. The goal is to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. This year’s theme is “Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle.”

No doubt about it, the foods you choose affect your health. Food choices can increase or deplete energy, build or undermine strong bones, help you feel satisfied, or send you on a blood sugar roller coaster. A healthy lifestyle incorporates balance, variety, and moderation into the foods you choose.

  1. Eating nutritious foods is always the key for a healthy lifestyle. Every March we are reminded to give importance on our nutrition but it is best to always practice eating these nutritious foods everyday for us to sustain our healthy lifestyle.

    I try and get a head start on eating my vegetables each day by having some with my breakfast. Whether it’s a frittata with veggies, or an egg white sandwich topped with spinach, there are so many ways to get in those servings!
